NRCO, ISP award P300,000 second tranche prize to 2017 Bizplan Competition winner

The National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), and its partner, Integrated Seafarers of the Philippines (ISP), awarded the second tranche of the Php 500,000 grand prize to the 2017 NRCO-ISP Business Plan of the Year winner last 20 March 2018 in Ermita, Manila.

The second tranche amounting to Php 300,000.00 was awarded to Mr. Jason Javier, an agriculture enthusiast and business partner of Capt. Oswald Rollorazo, a seafarer, who won such title for their Total Mix Ration (TMR)/ Ruminant Feeds Production and Distribution” business proposal.

The TMR is a method of feeding the ruminants (such as cows, goats, and horses) that combines all grains, protein feeds, vitamins, and minerals formulated to a specific nutrient concentration into a single feed mix.

According to Mr. Javier, the TMR business will be established in Tarlac. Per the Competition guidelines, the NRCO and ISP shall be monitoring the business within six months after its establishment.

Schedule of the site monitoring and awarding of the third tranche (in the amount of P150,000.00) will be on 25 April 2018 in Tarlac where the business is located.

The NRCO-ISP Business Plan Competition aims to encourage and hand-hold qualified seafarers intending to venture into social entrepreneurship and, at the same time, support the growth of jobs in their hometowns and communities.

Piloted in 2015, it has produced two job-generating businesses from the grand prize winners: Seaweeds Farming in Masinloc, Zambales; and Soft Broom Business in Manito, Albay.

The NRCO and ISP are yet to announce the 2018 Business Plan Competition.###
