January 2018

846 SPIMS beneficiaries actively teaching in 749 schools across the country

From 2014 as of date, the Department of Labor and Employment - National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) program for OFW-LET passers “Sa Pinas Ikaw Ang Ma’m/Sir” has produced 846 SPIMS beneficiaries actively teaching in 749 schools across the country.

For 2017, applications of 701 OFW-LET passers have been endorsed to Department of Education (DepEd) for processing.  Of this number, 332 are considered to have teaching experience within the last five (5) years and 369 are new LET passers.

All of these applications will undergo evaluation by the DepEd. Those who will satisfactorily pass will be eventually considered for Teacher 1 position.

Moreover, 305 applications will be endorsed to Philippine Normal University (PNU) to undergo the online refresher course, while the applications of the remaining 74 OFW-LET passers whose contracts have yet to end in 2018 will be forwarded to DepEd prior to their return.

The SPIMS is an employment reintegration program being spearheaded by DOLE-NRCO and being implemented through the assistance of DepEd, PNU, and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

The SPIMS program started on September 2014 to encourage the return of OFWs, specifically the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) passers, by providing them with option to work in the country as public school teachers. ###
